Satay restaurant

Bad service. We were not offered water at any time we had to ask for it after 15 minutes of waiting. Our food came out at drastically different times, the staff gave 2 of us our meals and 3 of us had to wait while the other ate and it was kind of awkward. Eventually 2 more entrées came to the table and 1 person didn't have their food yet and it was even more awkward all of us eating while 1 person had no food. We were the only people in the restaurant so it was not busy so there's no excuse for this. There were 2 items on the menu that we ordered we were told that were out of stock and unavailable so we had to look again and order something else. When we received our bill the staff added their own tip to the bill and we were expected to pay that amount. I think tipping is important and necessary of course I have no problem tipping but the issue is that I the customer should be in charge of the amount I wish to tip. The food was fine but nothing to get excited about for the price pretty expensive. It was not an enjoyable dinner experience and we won't go back to this establishment.

If I could give zero stars, I most definitely would! The Chow Mein was tasteless and the stir fry vegetables were scarce... on the endangered vegetables list? The Sweet & Sour Shrimp was nothing short of pathetic, almost no taste to it. And finally, the Honey Garlic Ribs were barely sweet, no signs of garlic and like all fast food, looked nothing like the picture. With so many other choices in Waterloo, we will not be ordering from Kam Yin EVER AGAIN!

Authentic and Canadian Chinese food here.. very very good.. lunch special is a great deal

Extremely disappointing. My wife and I ordered from here the first - and last - time on Valentine’s Day. Our biggest issue were the sweet-and-sour fried wontons shown in my image. They were not wontons. They were wonton skins. They sent us a box full of fried wonton skins with zero filling. I’ve never seen something like that and I’m still shocked. Normally if food isn’t great I don’t put a review, but just because of these wontons I had to share this with others.The rest of the food was subpar. It looked like all of the food was boiled instead of fried and the noodles that came with it also look like they were just boiled with no flavour or spices. It was not good food, and it wasn’t even cheap which would make me expect lower quality food.The only thing that saved them was their almond soo guy chicken. That was well-made and tasted good. But we ordered that, black bean tofu, Cantonese chow mein special, and the wonton (skins), so 1 out of 4 isn’t a good experience.It saddens me to post bad reviews, especially for a restaurant during this time, but what we received was just unacceptable and I don’t want others to have a similar unexpected experience.

Wanted to try this 3.6 star rated restaurant closeby. Dined in on a hungry Friday evening for seafood; $58 for an appetizer, main dish, and glass of red wine. Considering the price point, I'll be concisely critical.1. Main dish served before appetizer. Just why.Probably microwaved like fast food.2. Poor presentation, just fish covered in veggies, *drenched* with microwaved oyster sauce. Not to mention fish sat on top of a wilted lettuce leaf tf? Cant let that grape tomato garnish fool me. Swear to God it was microwaved food.3. Red wine not poured at the table. Poor etiquette.4. Menu had dried stains.5. Washrooms look cleaned on a semi annual basis. I was pretty much the only person served in the restaurant. Lazy employees just laughing away on their phones while you eat in a peaceful environment.Please dont get fooled into the preset 15% tip they ask of you. This is a low effort, sneering business. Knew it was 3.6, got what I deserved.You're really better off at Mandarin at Fletcher's Creek. Trust me.

I must say we are highly disappointed with our dinner tonight. Lily Thai, has been on our list to order from Uber eats for a while. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before ordering. The dumplings were soggy, bland, tasteless and had some weird red dye sauce on them. Our chicken wings had an old oil taste to them and the Thai general was meh. And to top it off the fortune cookies were stale, the kind of stale you can smell. What a terrible experience this was. Such a waste of money.. in the garbage it goes :/

This is really a good place for Thai cuisine. They offer great varieties of lunch combo at reasonable prices. Food was cooked to order and served hot. The spring roll in lunch combo was really the best and freshly cooked. I would recommend this restaurant.Nice place with good services.

I normally LOVE this restaurant! But today was a sad day. I always get the black pepper steak. Look at this photo... Absolutely no sauce... The sauce makes this dish, normally there is enough sauce to add your rice to. Today, no sauce, steak is dry because there is no sauce. And a restaurant that I normally love and order from a few times a week. Let me down...Come on guys. You're better than this.

Lucy was very friendly and helped me pick out some of their favourites off the menu. We did take out, the food was still warm and it was tasty. The coconut rice was good, jasmine lacked a little flavour but rest of the items were cooked well. The chicken was a little smelly hence the 4 star. Will try them again though!
